In addition to the nearly 5MW of photovoltaics installed in 2017, SunBug’s most significant milestone was launching our Employee Ownership Program. Today, fifteen employees across the organization from departments including Installation, Accounting, Monitoring, Sales, Design, and Service are new co-owners at SunBug Arlington and SunBug Westfield.
The effort to shift to a wider more diverse base of ownership was years in the making at SunBug. Joining the Amicus Solar Cooperative in 2015 gave SunBug an up-close look at how diversity in ownership is good for business, culture, and most importantly customers.
Sharing the impact of our collective effort — responsibilities & rewards, risks & decisions — engages our team to care for the well-being of the organization in a way that leads to a more impactful company, with greater returns for individuals and the whole. Broader ownership builds both stronger businesses and stronger communities, helps more individuals be connected to their work, and attracts top talent.
