SunBug Solar Featured on WGBH-TV’s "This Old House"

SunBug Solar has recently completed installation of a 4.8 kW solar system on This Old House’s 2016 Idea House.  "This Old House" chose Emerson Green, an innovative development in Devens, MA, as the location for this year’s “Idea House.”  SunBug Solar was selected to design and build the solar array, a key feature of this modern farmhouse.

This Old House’s annual “Idea House” is an opportunity to integrate fresh design concepts and new building techniques into an exciting project, and this year was no exception.  The program’s Emerson Green project showcases the highest quality and most efficient building products in a sustainable, low-maintenance home.  Perhaps most impressive is that the house will use less than a third of the energy of a typical new house of similar size, thanks to the tight building envelope, efficient systems, and solar-panel array.  With an expanded array, the house could produce all the energy it needs, making "net-zero" living possible.
